West Seattle Book Club

Poster design and limited-run tote to celebrate the launch of West Seattle Book Club. Happening all over West Seattle & White Center the first Thursday of every month, you’re invited to bring a book and gather with other readers for an hour of silent reading and socializing before and after.

The heart of this illustration is growing up in the Pacific Northwest with a love of books and nature. My Grandma Barbara was a Seattle artist and also worked at the UW bookstore for years. Her house was full of books— from overflowing bookshelves to books stacked in nooks of the closets. We’d frequently take walks in the wetlands where we could spot blue herons.

This design is in honor of her, and celebrating the inclusive community of gathering for Book Club.
